Debswana Diamond Company has renewed sponsorship of the Botswana Football Association (BFA) National First Division League (NFD) for P6 Million (six million Pula) over a period of three years, at P2 Million per season. This is a continuation of the sponsorship of the BFA NFD League which came to an end in May 2016 season having started in April 2013. This sponsorship will run from 2016/17 season to 2018/19 season Debswana Head of Corporate Affairs, Esther Kanaimba-Senai said the decision to continue with the sponsorship was taken in the interest of football development. “Debswana is committed to the development of sport and because we are aware that football is Botswana’s favourite sport, we decided that despite the challenges we face in the slow rough diamond market, we should still support the NFD which is a feeder league to the Premier League and subsequently to the national team, the Zebras”. The BFA Secretary General, Kitso Kemoeng, hailed the development as ‘great for football.
