BFA broke: No friendlies for Zebras

The Zebras are expected to report for camp today (Sunday) as they prepare for the last game of the African qualifiers against Burkina Faso on September 3, 2016. The team however may not have any friendly game prior the encounter which takes place in Burkina Faso.This was said by Botswana Football Association (BFA) Chief Executive Officer Kitso Kemoeng. He said they are currently working with Botswana National Sport Commission (BNSC) to prepare for the journey and are looking for a suitable route to Burkina Faso. He said a friendly game will be a challenge right now because of lack of funds. During the BFA Annual General Assembly Marshlow Motlogelwa reported that the association is running on a deficit of about P10 million. This could be the reason why the team will go to the final AFCON game without any friendly game as the coffers are dry. “When you talk of a friendly game it requires appearance fees and currently there is no money for that,” said Kemoeng. However, he acknowledged that it is important for the team to play together since the league is not on. Kemoeng then explained that they are looking at organising match practices for the team.…
