
With the Mascom Top 8 contract with the Botswana Football Association (BFA) having come to an end, the football fraternity has been curious on whether it will be renewed. This comes after reports that the sponsor was not happy about how the tournament went this year. It has been reported that Mascom was angered by the low turn-up of people at the games. Even after the final Mascom Top 8 match in Francistown, it was not clear that there were on-going discussions for contract extension or renewal. This raised even more concern that Mascom might pull out of the partnership. However, the BPL office has since shown the interest to have the partnership continued. After the final match BPL wrote a letter to Mascom indicating their wishes to have partnership continued. Botswana Premier League (BPL) CEO Thabo Ntshinogang told this publication in an interview that they have started negotiations with Mascom for an extension of the contract. Ntshinogang revealed that the two parties are back at the negotiation table for the coming season.
