
The 2016/2017 BTC Premiership season has been a very fruitful one for Jwaneng Galaxy. The team won the Mascom Top 8 in their maiden appearance in the competition and finished on position two in the league. They further am dominated the Top 8 awards with Coach Mike Sithole, veteran defender Boitumelo Mafoko and Anthony Gouws winning the coach of the tournament, Player of the tournament and goalkeeper of the tournament awards respectively. Botswana Premier League this week released the nominees for the 2016/17 BTC awards and the duo of Sithole and Gouws made the cut again. The young goalkeeper has been nominated for two awards in the Goalkeeper of the Season and Player of the Season categories. Sithole will be battling it out for his second award in the coach of the season category against Township Roller’s Mogomotsi Mpote and Thaloba Nthaga of Security systems. Looking at the trio, it is going to be a tough competition given the contribution they made at their clubs. Sithole, who will be looking to bag the second award, has done a marvellous job at Galaxy.
