
A team from Botswana Hayashi-Ha Karate Union will leave for Barcelona, Spain on July 24to compete at the World Hayashi-Ha Championships. Each of the athletes has promised to deliver a medal. Most of them are seasoned competitors who have won medals at regional and continental level. Botswana Karate Association (BOKA) President Tshepho Bathai referred to Hayashi-Ha as one of their most successful affiliates.As someone who likes to be associated with success, he is happy that they have been doing well as a code. “I am very proud of this team. I believe they will bring medals to Botswana the way they have been doing in the different competitions that they have been taking part in,” he said. Ofentse Bakwadi – an African champion – will captain the team. Masai Keipeile, who is living with a disability, gave a kata demonstration at the farewell event with the union officials saying that they want to show that they have children living with disabilities and encouraged more to join them. The Union’s Mpho Bakwadi challenged BOKA President to make sure that they look for competitions for those living with a disability and encourage their participation in sport.
