
Two young Batswana tennis players have qualified to compete at the upcoming African Junior Championships later this year. The two – Tshegofatso Tsiang (U-16 category) and Denzel Seetso (U-14 category) – booked themselves a spot at the international competition following their good display at the just-ended ITF/CATS Southern African Junior Championships which were held in Botswana. As hosts Botswana had fielded 24 players and divided them into two teams. They competed in both the individual and team categories. Though in the team category Botswana did not make it to the next level, local players received accolades from Botswana Tennis Association (BTA). Botswana finished in position four out of 10 countries. The country was represented by very talented players most of whom are based outside the country at high performance centres in South Africa with one in United Kingdom. BTA spokesperson Shelton Benzah said they are very happy with the way the team played. Benzah said there was great improvement from the team’s play as compared to the previous year. “We are very happy because they played very well compared to last year.
