
Preparations for the athletics team that will be part of Team Botswana at the coming Commonwealth Games are said to be gong-on well. The Commonwealth Games will be held from 4-15 April 2018 in Queensland, Australia. The team, which has been in camp since 8th January 2018, is said to be showing signs of improvement with every competition. Team manager Olebogeng Oitebetse said preparations are going on very well, with the athletes’ performance on the rise. She said Botswana Athletics Association (BAA) has been organising competitions for the team. The Athletics Super Nights, which have been held across the country, have been used to gauge the readiness of the team. Oitebetse said since the first Athletics Super Night – held on January 11, 2018 – to the third one which was held in Lobatse last weekend, the team has been showing great improvement in their times. “The preparations are going on very well and the team is improving with every competition that it takes part in,” said Oitebetse, adding that when the competitions started the athletes’ times where low because they had just started their camp.
