The 2018 Gaborone Region 5 Youth Games Local Organising Committee has made calls towards the private sector to come on board to help them host memorable and successful games. Speaking at a press briefing on Friday LOC Chairman Labbeaus Peloewetse said their total budget is P55 million. Peloewetse said government has availed P26 million for the games and they are currently short of P16 million. He explained that other funds came in as part of registration fees by member countries. Peloewetse said the P26 million that government has availed will only go towards the preparations and not to the team. He called the private sector to come on board to help the LOC in any way they can. “For us to deliver successful games that we have promised we need to come together because alone we will not succeed. I, therefore, urge all stakeholders to come and help us to ensure that our young athletes grow,” said Peloewetse. He said they want the games to leave a lasting tangible legacy for Botswana.
