Mixed reactions to Bright’s sacking

The Botswana Football Association’s (BFA) decision to fire Zebras coach Major David Bright has enlisted mixed reaction from sport lovers. Bright took over from the Briton mentor Peter Butler in 2017 on three-year contract running up to June 2020. Bright’s firing comes on the back of poor results in the 2019 AFCON qualifiers. The Zebras currently remain winless in five games in group I having registered one draw and four defeats, which has left the team bottom of the group with only one point. Football analysts and followers have expressed different views on Bright’s sacking. One analyst said he the sacking of Bright reflected BFA’s serious stand on the mandate they had given the coach for AFCON. Fabian Zulu said the BFA should opt for a coach who knows local football better, saying should the association rope a coach from Europe he will perform dismally as well. “Bright has failed because he took a long time in South African football before coming back to take the national team.
