
The senior national men’s team has drawn against Bafana Bafana in the 2019 COSAFA Cup tournament that starts 25th May to June 8th in Durban, South Africa. The two sides will clash in quarter-finals of the tournament, following a draw conducted on Thursday. Zebras and Bafana have played several times in the COSAFA tournament almost every year since 2016 with the South African counterparts having upper hand in winning stakes. In the 2016 final, Botswana lost by 3-2 against Bafana, and again in 2017 plate semifinal edition where they lost 0-2. Despite a good run in the 2018 tournament, the Zebras were again defeated 0-3 by Stuart Baxter’s side. The Teenage Mpote-coached Zebras, which is dominated by youthful players, will be gunning for the COSAFA glory following their failure to qualify for the AFCON finals set to kick-start next month, June in Egypt.
