Adel Amrouche
... To be paid Sh108 million (P115 000) DAVID KWALIMWA nation.co.ke The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has ordered Football Kenya Federation (FKF) to pay former Harambee Stars coach Adel Amrouche Sh108 million in costs and damages for wrongful dismissal. Current FKF president Nick Mwendwa contested that appeal, but lost out. The ruling has also ordered FKF to pay Amrouche before the end of October 2019, and risk failing to be allowed to compete in the 2022 Fifa World Cup qualifiers in case of a default. "I will ask Fifa to give us an extension. We are paying for the ills…

Aratwa Kasemang [RED]
As boxers lose first bouts at World Championships Senior Boxing National Team coach Lechedzani Luza has cited lack of proper preparations as one of the contributing factors for his team’s poor performance at the on-going Women’s World Boxing Championships in Sochi, Russia. After the men’s team snubbed the competition due to fatigue Botswana Boxing Association (BoBA) sent three female boxers to the competition in Lethabo Modukanele (49kg), Keamogetse Kenosi (60kg) and Aratwa Kasemang (63kg) to prove their worth against the best in the world. However, Botswana’s stay at the event was cut short as all the boxers lost their first bouts at the tournament – a performance which head coach Luza says didn’t come as a shock considering that they did not prepare well for the tournament and didn’t get enough rest after the All Africa Games in Morocco. African silver medalist Kasemang lost 5-0 to Milana Safronova of Kazakhstan in the preliminaries while it was tough bouts for Kenosi and Modukanele who lost by “Referee Stops Contest” to Venezuela and Japan respectively. “So many factors did affect our performance; partly it was because of experience and lack of good preparations because we were not in good shape as compared…

FRAFA unveils P160 000 sponsorship deals
Francistown Regional Football Association (FRAFA) this week unveiled sponsorship deals worth P160 000. Ever since ascending to the chairmanship position of the regional football association a few months ago, Maokaneng Bontshetse has been spending sleepless nights drumming up sponsorship for his region. Constituency league games continue to present a great challenge for national sports associations despite the individual financial benefits associated with them. The games, played in tournament format, offer financial incentives which cost mainstream associations a lot of players who are lured by the cash incentives offered to the winners. Netball and volleyball have been the most negatively affected sporting codes while athletics on the other hand has benefited from scouting for good talent among runners who participate in the games. Constituency league is a government initiative which was introduced in 2008 under former President Ian Khama's administration. The games were introduced to curb unemployment as well as removing the youth from the streets and giving them something to keep them active. However, the games have brought more damage in the sporting fraternity compared to the good deeds which were expected when the games where introduced. Facilitated and administered by the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Sports and Culture Development, the games continue to gobble a lot of tax payers’ money though meaningful results are yet to be seen. Since their inception millions have been spent on the games with P10 million spent in 2008-20009 season, P28 million in 2010 and P125…
