
The Botswana Football Association (BFA) National Executive Committee has suspended Botswana Premier League board and its operations. BFA president Tebogo Sebego made the announcement on Wednesday evening following the NEC meeting which is said to have taken the whole day. Sebego said the suspension follows a series of concerns and what in the view of NEC, has been a series of acts of misconducts by the BPL board. According to Sebego, the board has been constantly undermining of NEC’s resolutions. One of the issues that Sebego outlined as supporting to the suspension is the continued derogatory statements by the BPL board on the BFA NEC and its activities. The running of match fixture between Jwaneng Galaxy and Mochudi Centre Chiefs on 7th May 2016 by BPL board against the wishes of the league sponsor has also been cited. It is believed prior the said game beMOBILE – League sponsors – had requested that the game be postponed to allow for all matters to be resolved but the board declined.
