
Gaborone United’s (GU) new coach has reported for duty. Argentinian Rodolfo Zapata arrived in Botswana on Sunday and immediately started work on Monday. Zapata has since been tasked with building the team up for the coming season. GU chairman Rapula Okaile confirmed the arrival of the new coach, saying he has signed a two-year deal with the club. According to Okaile, they are looking to build the team for the coming season following a not-so-good spell in the 2015/2016 season. He, however, said they want to finish in the Top 4 so that they can play in the Mascom Top 8 competition in the next season. This season GU have lost the Top 8 Cup after failing to successfully defend it. The team was knocked out in the preliminary stages and has also lost out in the fight for the beMOBILE premier league title. The team has not been doing well this season that is why we are now preparing it for the coming season.
