Sebele targets World champs
Botswana’s 100m sensation Tsaone Sebele says she intends to qualify for the 2017 IAAF World Championships billed for London on August 4-13. Sebele finished third on an ASA speed series at Bloemfontein last week at a personal best of 11.48s, missing a World Championships qualifying time of 11.26s by a whisker. Her performance gives her hope that she will be amongst the athletes to represent Botswana at the London Championships. “Like most of the athletes’ world championships would be a dream come true if achieved,” she said. Speaking from Johannesburg, South Africa where she is based, Sebele shared her delight at having run a personal best. “I feel humbled by my performance; I honestly could have not done it without God on my side,” she said. The Topisi-born said she was still recovering from a torn patella tendon. “I trust God for complete recovery.” Sebele, however, chose to reserve her comment when questioned if she has been getting any assistance from Botswana Athletics Association (BAA). “Doing well takes hard work and consistency because you can have all the facilities you need and still not perform to your best.
