
Creative Stars Foundation (CSF) Chairman Letsweletse Moshabi says retired sports stars need to be supported so that they can fend for themselves even when their playing days are over. Moshabi said Botswana’s former sports stars who retired players are normally left on their own without any support despite having done well for the clubs and even country. He said this on Wednesday at the press briefing to announce their Foundation. Moshabi said the Creative Stars Foundation, which will be officially launched on May 26 at Travelodge, exist to correct this error. He pointed out that the foundation will offer assistance to the retired sports personalities who left the game due to injuries, aging and forced retirement. “We are committed to recognise and celebrate these sports personalities just as during their stardom days,” said Moshabi. The chairman, however, acknowledged it all needs to start with educating those who are still active about the use of money so that when they retire they have something to survive on. He said the foundation is therefore committed to improving outreach programmes and impact to better serve the players.
