
Botswana’s forays into the top levels of cricket administration at world level scored a big achievement after Botswana Cricket Association’s (BCA) Fixtures and Publicity Secretary Sumod Damodar was elected into the International Cricket Council’s Chief Executives Committee (CEC). Damodar was elected to the position at the ICC annual Conference held in London recently. Damodar was one of the six people who were contesting for the three positions in CEC. It was the first time ever that Botswana contested for the position in the ICC structures. Damodar’s election into the CEC has been applauded by the BCA leadership, saying it is a great milestone not only for the association but the rest of Africa. BCA CEO Girish Ramakrishna said this proves that the association is doing something well that even the world is starting to recognise. “This is a great milestone for Botswana. With the changes that are coming at ICC, it was important that someone from Africa was in that committee,” said Ramakrishna.
