With only a week left prior to the much-anticipated first edition of the BTC Charity Cup – a one day soccer extravaganza – the race among Premier league clubs to claim and cement a spot to participate in the Charity Cup has heated up. BTC is sponsoring its inaugural Charity Cup. The last such tournament – Kabelano Charity Cup – took place three years ago. However, the BTC Charity Cup voting competition so appears not to be going well for the traditional dominant sides likes Township Rollers, Extension and Gaborone United. Serowe-based outfit Miscellaneous and Jwaneng Galaxy are currently posing a threat having emerged as pace setters. ‘Tse Nala’, as Miscellaneous are affectionately known to their die hard supporters and lovers, have emerged as top crowd pullers arising from their most successful premier league season in their history Miscellaneous and Mochudi Centre Chiefs have led the pack for some time. Rollers, Gunners, GU and Jwaneng Galaxy have not been consistent in the voting and it will be interesting to see who ultimately makes the cut.
