
Despite the dark cloud hovering over Botswana Premier League (BPL), officials have promised that league games not be interrupted. Botswana Football Association (BFA) Chief Executive Officer Kitso Kemoeng said league games will go on as planned. This has been a very difficult week for local football and league custodians Botswana Premier League. The league has attracted a rather unusual attention not only from all football lovers but also law enforcement agencies. The dark cloud that has been hovering over the league started last weekend with allegations of missing funds and suspicious dealings within BPL that saw the suspension of the Chief Executive Officer Bennett Mamelodi. The allegations levelled against the suspended Mamelodi, board chairman Walter Kgabung and his deputy Solomon Mantswe opened a can of worms as they led to a massive investigation by law enforcement agencies. It is reported that some disgruntled BPL board members engaged law enforcers to get to the bottom of the matter. On Thursday BPL offices were under lock down as law enforcers investigated the reported scandal by among others raiding the offices to pick crucial documents and computers. At the centre of the controversy is BPL funds which are said to be unaccounted for.…
