Botswana National Olympic Committee (BNOC) is putting its best athletes forward in the quest to have them qualify for the Rio Olympics. A top class boxing team left the country on Friday for intensive training camp in Morocco before proceeding to Yauonde, Cameroon on March 8 for the 2016 Rio qualifiers. The BNOC CEO Tuelo Serufho said only chose excelling codes will get a place in the Olympics. Serufho said they want only quality players to represent Botswana to have a chance to win medals. “We narrowed the representation to only five sport codes - boxing, athletics, judo, swimming and volleyball,” he said. These are the codes that have proven to be very successful especially in the region and internationally. Among these, the volleyball ladies team is already out after failing to qualify. He said that with Botswana celebrating 50 years they are keeping their fingers crossed so that they can be able to send a larger delegation than the one they sent to London.
